And the winner is…

Thanks to all the entrants for the PPC Blooper contest that we launched a couple of weeks ago - PPC Blooper Contest: WIN a years subscription to SpeedPPC.

We had some great entries and we thought we’d share a few of our favourites and announce the winners of Annual Subscription toSpeedPPC. We liked this one which was Display Blooper where the top banner is for poke.com saying that Rupert Murdoch owns the media, but not the Poker newsletter…except for the fact that there is a display banner for the Sun newspaper on the right hand side of the page (which Rupert Murdoch does own!)

Poke.com

Hehe, nice find! :-)

We also liked this one from one of our German readers which is a classic case from Zolando.de of automated ad copy as they are repeating the company name, Nike, twice in the headline of their ad copy…

Nike Blooper

But in there defence it is on Yahoo…so no surprises that they aren’t really checking their ad copy!

And the winners are…

Our two favourites from the entries we had in is this double blooper from Amazon and Ebay, which goes to show that they may be two of the biggest spenders with Google AdWords and have automated ad copy writing systems…but they still aren’t perfect…as can been seen for their ad copy when you search for the term ‘Christmas Lights’…

Christmas Lights Blooper

‘Christma Lights’ – oops! Great spot seeing both Ebay and Amazon guilty of the same blooper!

And the second winner is for this blooper which is a product listing ad where they targeting has gone wrong…we guess they just picked the wrong name when they were thinking what to call their latest shower head…

Douche Blooper

Maybe that is what Splash Direct are going after looking at Stawberryblushes.co.uk ad copy…but we liked this blooper in particular as it shows the random things that people search for in Google nowadays.

Congratulations to the winners…we will be in touch with you via email to sort out your prize. (We aren’t announcing the names of the winners as this is Black Hat PPC and we don’t want to mention anyone’s name in association with this blog.)

We are having some time out now over the Xmas Holidays but we’ll be back blogging again in the New Year.

Season greetings everyone…have a good one! :-)

The BlackHatters.

eBay have just published a report on why Adwords didn’t improve their traffic. No wonder it didn’t with spellings like that! Their ppc company need to learn more about ppc.
